Looking for a simple and delicious way to enjoy dark miso roasted cabbage? This dish combines the nutty depth of miso and sesame with the earthy sweetness of caramelized cabbage, creating a flavorful and nutritious meal.
Turn on an oven to 180 degrees celsius to warm up. On a stovetop on medium-high heat, heat up the oil in a large skillet or cast iron pan (one that can be placed into an oven). Place the cabbage wedges with salt sprinkled on top into the pan and sear each side until browned with the lid on so that it steams simultaneously.
Whilst the cabbage is cooking on the stovetop, combine the hot water, miso paste, Gochujang, soy sauce, honey, chilli flakes, and fish sauce into a bowl and mix until smooth.
Once the cabbage has been browned and caramelized, pour the liquid mixture over the cabbage, cover with aluminum foil, and place it into the oven to cook for 20 minutes then remove the foil and cook for an additional 20 minutes or until the cabbage is extremely soft and tender.
Remove from the oven and drizzle over the sesame oil and sesame seeds.
